We all found out during SDCC 14 that Legendary pictures would bring King Kong back to life in a prequel film entitled "Skull Island." It's now being heard that Legendary has offered Joe Cornish the directors job. Cornish has been receiving lots of offers since his success on his low budget alien invasion film "Attack the Block." No word back from Cornish's camp on whether he will accept or not. Skull Island is set to release November 4, 2016.

Marvel and DC aren't the only ones dropping exciting future film news at Comic-Con this week. It has been announced that King Kong, the mighty movie monster, is coming back to the big screen in a film called "Skull Island".

Teaser footage was shown to a private audience, which has been described as showing an island full of lush jungle terrain, as well as monkeys and other creatures. The footage concluded with a shot of a cave in the shape of a skull, and then the title "Skull Island".   The movie is set to hit theaters on November 4th, 2016.
While little is known about the film at this time, I certainly hope this news could lead to an eventual rematch between King Kong and Godzilla. Fingers crossed!
