Marvel and Fox studios have set the date for Deadpool's long-awaited return to the superhero community. The release date of February 12, 2016 coincides with several other movies already set for the same day (How To Be Single, Gods of Egypt, and an untitled animation). Although it hasn't been officially announced, there are rumors that Ryan Reynolds will be returning to continue his portrayal of Deadpool.
If your only exposure to Deadpool was his presence in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, you may not understand why he's getting his own movie. But, in fact, Deadpool is a very popular character among X-Men fans, known for his snarky, ever-present commentary and comebacks, as well as his badass swordsman skills. Many of us were disappointed by his forced muteness in Origins, and are looking forward to diving deeper into the dark complexities of this beloved character.

For anyone who is missing out and wishes to get an idea of who Deadpool is before the movie comes out, the "Ultimate Spiderman" cartoon series is a huge laugh, and true to the heart of the comics for the most part. Obviously Deadpool isn't a main character in this series, but as it does incorporate the Avengers and many other Marvel personas, he makes his own appearance as a lethal but funny and often obnoxious addition to the group. He appears in Season 2, Episode 16 (Ultimate Spiderman: Ultimate Deadpool) and demonstrates his personality much better that I could in his own introduction: "Dang, skippy! Where are my manners? Introductions...! Call me Deadpool. It rhymes with "no school," "too cool," "ain't no fool," and "I'm the best that there is at what I do-ool."
