Universal Studios has given us many of cinema's greatest movie monsters, and now they're devising a devious master plan to bring them all together. Their iconic monsters include the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein and his bride, The Mummy, The Wolf Man, The Phantom of the Opera, The Invisible Man, The Creature of the Black Lagoon, and many others. Rather than focusing on giving these legendary monsters entirely separate movie installments, the idea is to create a connected movie monster universe akin to Marvel's superhero films, which are all brilliantly interconnected and become fully united with the Avengers series. It looks like it's gonna be a Monster Mash!
Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are taking on this ambitious project in its early stage. Kurtzman is best known for being the writer of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. He has also been involved with Transformers series, Mission: Impossible III, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Chris Morgan, meanwhile, has writing credits for The Fast and The Furious franchise. While I certainly don't expect the project to match Marvel's remarkable success, it should be interesting to see how it all comes together. Monsters Assemble!
