Shane Black, the writer of 5 Minute Movie Guy favorite Lethal Weapon, and the writer/director of Iron Man 3 is set to write and direct the next Predator film. Details about the film are unknown at the time, but despite what initial reports suggested, I am happy to report that this new Predator will not be a reboot of the original. As far as I'm concerned, some special effects aside, the original Predator film still holds up remarkably well. I think it's one of the all-time action-movie greats. Here's to hoping Arnold hasn't been pushing too many pencils and will find his way into the sequel!
While I was disappointed with Iron Man 3, I still think the Predator franchise is in good hands with Black. The guy has made a lot of great action films, so I'm excited to see what he can do with the series. Additionally, Shane Black's acting debut was in the original Predator film as Hawkins (as seen in the image on your right), so I'm sure he holds this series close to the heart and will really try to make the sequel worthy of the 1987 classic. I'll keep you posted on more updates as they become available.
