I love a good movie quote. Who doesn't? They can be a lot of fun to recite among friends. Sometimes just a few words can speak volumes. Although I find that good movie quotes can be pretty hard to come by. The best of them often become immortalized as pop culture lore. Time will tell if any of these nominations will still be quoted decades from now, but odds are you'll at least find me repeating a few of them for the coming months. Here are my top 5 favorites from 2014!

What a startling way to start a movie! It sent shivers straight down my spine! This chilling quote is the opening line of Gone Girl and it establishes a dark and disturbing tone right from the outset, while painting a twisted portrait of Ben Affleck's Nick Dunne. It's difficult to even imagine a man saying something so demented about a person, let alone his own wife. Right from the get-go, it has us judging Nick and watching him extra closely, searching for any possible signs of madness. Yet something doesn't add up. As we begin to understand Nick, the line seems almost uncharactertistic of him. That is until the opening shot resurfaces to end the film, echoing Nick's demented opening line. Suddenly it all makes perfect sense. The way this quote brilliantly bookends Gone Girl makes it one of the most unforgettable movie quotes in recent memory, and without a doubt, my favorite quote of the year.
